Shipping Policy

Ship Happens.

Shipping fees are the bane of our shared existence.  Nothing against the services that our shipping partners provide -- they are absolutely essential to facilitating the comforts we all demand of modern life -- but they sure ain't cheap and money doesn't grow on trees -- unless you are this guy.

But we digress, so back to the point. You want to spend your bread on real bread, and we want that too. So here is what we've got set up for your online purchase:

  • Set quantities:  Buy your bread in quantities of 2, 4, or 8.
      • Matches our box sizes so you don't pay for shipping air.
      • Plus, we've baked in some deep discounts in our online pricing in to help incentivize the quantity-optimization.
      • FYI, freezing surplus bread is neither horrifically quality-destructive nor difficult. Just place it in a freezer-graded storage bag (like a Zip-loc), write the date, and you can keep it for up to 6 months.
  • Back-end magic: Instantly find the cheapest acceptable shipping.
      • We've enlisted the help of the ShipStation logistics app which instantly searches multiple vendors to find you the cheapest acceptable option.
      • But don't worry, we won't ship it too slowly. Bread is perishable, and you need it at your door
  • Green is Good: We restrict the shipping companies we work to those demonstrating efforts to migrate their fleets to Zero-Emission Vehicles (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.). But in the meantime we will eat the cost of righting both our Karmas. With every delivery we set aside funds to:
      • purchase carbon offsets (fund future solutions),
      • plant a tree (help as best we can today),
      • or donate bread to a local food-bank.  OK, this last one is not directly connected to the problem, but it's massively important as well.
