Frequently Asked Questions
Dear Valued Customers,
The Inked Bread Co. online store is temporarily closed for construction so we can improve our customer’s eCommerce experience. Given the size of this project, we expect the eCommerce store to be down for most of 2022.
In the meantime, you can find our bread in-store or online through one of our many retail partners.
We understand that many of our online customers don’t have retail options in their area. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience and frustration this may cause. Over the next 18 to 24 months, you should see Inked Bread available on shelves in many more markets. We hope you sign up for our company newsletter to receive news and announcements as Inked Bread Co. expands.
Thank you,
Inked Bread Co.

FAQs
Fun Fact: Our chief miller baker’s family helped to usher in the organic foods movement in the 40s and 50s in the San Francisco Bay Area.
USDA Certified Organic products are regulated and certified by the United States Department of Agriculture. To achieve the USDA certification that you see on our label, our breads are made using ingredients that are free from pesticides or artificial fertilizers, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Additionally, the Organic certification ensures products are processed without using ionizing radiation and do not contain food additives.
Yes! We are Non-GMO. We don’t use any GMOs in our products, and are committed to keeping GMO ingredients out of all future products. All of our breads are certified organic by the United States Department of Agriculture and part of being organic is not using any genetically modified organisms (GMOs). We always have been and always will be GMO free.
We don’t make any gluten-free products…yet. We’d love to hear if gluten is a concern for you, as we are always considering requests from our customers! To be the first to know about new Inked Organic Bread products, join our mailing list.
All products, except our Honey Whole Wheat bread, are vegan friendly. Our Honey Whole Wheat bread contains organic honey.
Our breads are very allergen friendly and do not contain peanuts or tree nuts. Additionally, our breads are baked in facilities that are free of peanuts and tree nuts.
If you plan to eat our breads within 10 days, then the best way to store the bread is on your counter or in a bread box at room temperature. If you live somewhere with high humidity, we recommend putting the bread in the refrigerator to preserve the freshness. We also recommend keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat to prevent pre-mature molding. It is ok to freeze our bread if you need to store it for an extended amount of time (approx. 1-3 months). And thaw slices as needed.
We source clean, chemical-free grains only from people we know and who practice farming in the traditions of agriculture past using rich, naturally fertilized soil, sunlight on open fields, and rain from the sky. Our millers mill our grains into flour slowly to prevent nutrient damaging heat, typically seen in large commercial operations, assuring the natural goodness in every grain makes its way into each Inked Organic loaf.
We never use enriched or other flours stripped of valuable natural nutrients only to add stuff back just to meet a “legal definition”, or to create the facade of an attractive nutritional panel. Our whole grain flour actually is made from the whole grain. Nothing else has been added. Instead of stamping out tens of thousands of loaves each day on gigantic automated production lines, our breads are crafted by artisans across the country in smaller bakeries staffed by people who really love making great bread.
This depends on what the store has decided to carry, meaning some stores may carry only a few varieties, while others may decide to carry all. If it would make your day for your store to carry more, let them know! Customer feedback is important to store buyers to make sure their shoppers are happy with the selection of products. Sharing this request may help secure more Inked Bread varieties on their shelves and we thank you for your support!
You can find our breads easily in Southern California and Hawaii and at select stores in Northern California, Nevada and Arizona. Check out our “Where To Buy” to find a store near you! Each store can vary in which varieties they sell and since we are a small, artisan bakery, we cannot guarantee availability. We urge you to please call ahead to see if it’s in stock! We’ve been selling out of some locations and we don’t want you to make a trip only to get a slice of sadness from the loaf of disappointment.
