Grocery Shop for Better for You Breakfast Sandwiches

No matter how many healthy breakfast ideas you can come up with, without some solid staple ingredients on hand, you’ll be stuck with trying overnight oats. No shade on the oats, but a hearty, healthful breakfast sandwich is more our style. Before the weekday morning dash begins, stock up on eggs, breakfast meats, cheese, fruit, your favorite nut butter, and a couple loaves of Inked Bread. Then, when the work and school weeks start at way to early o’clock on Monday, you are ready to sling some breakfast sandwiches!

Egg in a Hole Breakfast Stack

Popeyes, Egg in a Hole, Hole in One, Bullseye Eggs— whatever you call it, fry up a delicious piece of bread with the egg cooked inside the crust for a classic and power packed way to start your day. (Seriously though, some sources say there are over sixty names for this breakfast egg+toast sensation, including Eggs in a Frame, Eggs in a Nest, Gashouse Eggs, Toad in a Hole, Gashouse Special, Gasthaus Eggs, One-Eyed Jack or One-Eyed Pete or Pirate’s Eyes.) Call it what you want— we call it a breakfast stack of champions. Whether your day holds a triathlon or the carpool line, get an energy boost with a stack of Popeyes. If time and tastes permit, pair your (whatever you want to call them) with a breakfast smoothie or greek yogurt for a full spread. If not, take a couple Eggs in a Nest to-go as you dash out the door.

Frittata Breakfast Sandwich

If you’re the type of person to make a frittata on Sunday (you either are or are not, there is no try), do yourself a favor and double the recipe for a couple frittata breakfast sandwiches to start the week. If you’re cooking breakfast meat (we recommend thick-cut bacon), double that, too. After brunch, pre-cut the extra frittata into sandwich sized pieces and put them in the fridge. Come Monday, stuff your favorite Inked Bread with reheated frittata, bacon and whatever else speaks to you for a quick and easy breakfast sandwich. Sliced avocado and tomato are great topping options, tooo, and cheese will make anything better— this sandwich will live up to your perpetually waking up hungry dreams.

Brunch Between Bread Breakfast Sandwich

Brunch is what weekends are made for, right? Well, that and hitting the trails, catching live shows, and living big between the work weeks. Anyways- back to brunch. It’s so good. Now, take all the savory goodness that brunch has to offer and put it between two slices of the best bread you can get your hands on (Inked. Obvs.). Now you’re holding a “brunch between bread” breakfast sandwich! Fried eggs, sausage patties, hash browns (yes, even sweet potato hash browns) all layer into one of the best things you can put in your mouth in the morning. Don’t forget the hot sauce.

Nut Butter and Fresh Fruit Breakfast Sandwich

Give your old-school ride-or-die sandwich, the peanut butter and jelly, a major nutritional upgrade for a fresh, delicious breakfast sandwich. Gather your favorite nut or seed butter, fresh berries, chia seeds, maple syrup, and, of course, Inked Bread. Layer creamy nut butter with freshly smashed berries on your bread. Next, sprinkle with chia seeds for some nutritional punch and crunch. Finally, drizzle with maple syrup. Yes, that’s it. So simple, and so delicious. Bonus: it keeps nicely for a couple of hours, so you can take it to the office for a mid-morning boost.

Toss your routine breakfast scramble and start making breakfast sandwiches instead! They’re portable, they’re good for you, and they’re delicious— what’s not to love? Find your favorite loaf of Inked Organics bread at your local grocery store, LA area Costcos, and more locations added every week!
